EXPIN AI was built to investigate that question. Our platform explores the environmental and lifestyle exposures (chemicals, diet, infections, stress, and more) that biomedical research links to autoimmune thyroid disease. We call this your expotype: a personalized map of what you've been exposed to and how it connects to your health.
With your expotype in hand, you can work with your physician to:

We're looking for beta testers
We're looking for up to 50 beta testers with Hashimoto's Disease and hypothyroidism to help us test and improve our technology.
This isn't a passive study or clinical trial! We want your active feedback on the experience, the interface, and the results. In exchange, you'll receive a full expotype analysis and expert consultation at no cost.
What You'll Receive
- A 30-60-minute AI-guided interview exploring your life history, environment, diet, and exposures
- A personalized expotype report identifying potential environmental contributors to your Hashimoto's and related evidence references
- Two 30-minute consultations with our team of experts to review your results and understand your experience

Who Can Participate
- Adults with a diagnosis of Hashimoto's Disease (also called Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Autoimmune Hypothyroid, or Chronic Autoimmune Thyroiditis)
- Able to provide documentation of diagnosis (e.g., antibody lab results) preferred but not required

Frequently Asked Questions
My diagnosis is complicated. Can I still join?
Absolutely. We know autoimmunity isn't black and white. If you're dealing with thyroid autoimmunity or hypothyroidism in any form, we want to hear from you, even if it's just a suspicion right now.
What if more than 50 people sign up? Will I miss out?
We're accepting signups in the order they come in. When we're ready, we'll reach out one by one. If you don't respond within a week, we'll move to the next person and circle back later. After the first 50, you'll still be on the waitlist, but we may not be able to offer the product for free. Pricing is still being determined, but we expect to provide up to a 20% discount on the first year of access to our early supporters.
I'm not in the US. Can I still participate?
Yes, we welcome international participants. However, the system works best with English language speakers.
Can I sign up my spouse/parent/family member?
Yes, during onboarding you will be given the option to indicate that you are working with us on behalf of someone that you provide care for.
Is my data safe?
Yes. We use encryption, access controls, and security practices aligned with healthcare industry standards. We are not a HIPAA-covered entity (this is a research tool, not a clinical product), but we treat your data with the same care.
Is this a clinical trial? Do I need to worry about being a "guinea pig"?
No. This isn't a clinical trial or medical research, it's a product usability study. You'll give us feedback on the experience, and we'll give you a personalized report. We are a team of clinicians and scientists advising us, but we're not testing treatments, measuring clinical outcomes, or creating new generalizable medical knowledge.
Will I actually get results, or is this just for your research?
You'll receive your full expotype report at no cost. It's yours to explore on your own or discuss with your doctor.
Why do you need my address?
We use location data to look at environmental exposures in your area, things like air quality, water contamination, and local health patterns. If you're not comfortable sharing your full address now, just put your city and state. We'll collect detailed residence history later during your onboarding.
Why is the interview AI-mediated?
We use AI to collect detailed information affordably, adaptively, conveniently, and at scale, not to generate medical conclusions or diagnoses, or produce slop. The AI asks questions; humans and evidence-based systems analyze the data. Occasionally, a human scientist may ask for more information as a follow up.
What do you actually need from me?
Your time and honest feedback. We're a small team building something we believe can help tens of millions of people with chronic conditions. We're looking for participants who genuinely want to help us get this right and can provide constructive feedback.
